IEEE NSS/MIC (Nuclear Sciences Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference), Tampa (USA), 28 October – 2 November 2024
This conference is the major annual event for nuclear radiation instrumentation with a special focus on nuclear medical imaging. METACRYSTAL has been particularly illustrated at the 2024 issue in Tampa, Florida, with the Valentin T. Jordanov Radiation Instrumentation Travel Grant, attributed to Dr. Ricardo LATELLA, former chief engineer at METACRYSTAL, and the prestigious Ed. Hoffman Medical Imaging Scientist Award presented to Prof. Paul LECOQ.
PICOSEC Workshop, Isola d’Elba (Italy), 19 – 23 May 2025
This workshop, the 14th of a series initiated in 2005 by the University of Chicago and then the University of Kansas City, addressed particularly the latest developments on Ultra Fast timing from 1-50 picosecond levels becoming achievable with the new technological development on scintillating crystals, photodetectors and readout electronics. The philosophy of this workshop follows the ones organized in Chicago (2005, 2006, 2008 and 2011), Saclay (2007), Clermont Ferrand (2009), Cracow (2010), Clermont-Ferrand (2014), Prague (2015), Kansas City (2016), Torino (2018), Zurich (2021) and Elba (2023). Prof. Paul LECOQ, member of the International Organizing Committee, was invited to present the two following talks:
- 10ps Time-of-Flight PET scanner: The Odyssey From Hope to Practice
- Harnessing the Purcell Effect for Faster Metascintillators
International Conference on Materials Science, Engineering & Technology, Paris (France), 28 – 30 May 2025
Organised by the North Central College (USA) this conference fosters international collaboration and knowledge exchange among academics, researchers, professionals, and industry leaders in the fields of material science, physics, chemistry, and biology. Prof. Paul LECOQ was invited to give the introductory talk in the first plenary session of this important event, with the following title: “Metascintillators for Medical Imaging Applications”.
ANIMMA, 9th International conference on Advancements in Nuclear Instrumentation Measurement Methods and their Applications, Valencia (Spain), 9 – 13 June 2025
At this important event, which gathers every second year the large academic and industrial community working on nuclear instrumentation, Prof. Paul Lecoq, member of the scientific committee, introduced the sessions on nuclear medical imaging applications with the following invited talk: “Future Trends in Nuclear Medical Imaging” where he mentioned his interest and involvement for the deployment of modern, cost-effective early diagnostic tools, such as gamma cameras, SPECT and PET scanners, in low- and medium-income countries (LMICs), representing 2/3 of the world population, having presently no access to them, with a strong societal and economical impact. A resolution has been formally presented by Prof. John Prior, head of the nuclear medicine department at the university hospital in Lausanne and accepted in February 2025 at the general assembly of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Geneva and is supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.
